Technology solutions for all your communal TV needs

Communal TV and aerial maintenance

Campbell & Kennedy is offering a Winter Trial for local authorities, housing associations and property management companies on reactive maintenance technology works. From experience, we know that winter weather can cause lots of problems with aerials, satellite dishes and signals failures resulting in residents being unable to watch television.

Typically, we would charge a call out fee plus the cost of materials to fix a fault and the additional time on-site. However, we are offering a discounted fixed rate of £86.50 + VAT with no hidden charges. We are piloting an “opt-in” trial across December, January and February where we are proposing that all service calls in blocks with up to 24 units would be a standard rate of £86.50 to resolve the reported fault with no additional charge to the client.

The faults could range from replacing a block’s faulty 24 way multiswitch, replacing a faulty dish/LNB/aerial, replacing damaged fixing (from slate pieces and poles to T&K brackets) and realigning dishes to re-tuning and connection issues within a flat. There would be no additional charge above the flat rate to repair the fault or for time on site.

To opt into this trial, please send an email to commercial@campbellkennedy.co.uk

Terms & Conditions:

  • Electrical and civil works not included
  • Ladder access only – no access equipment (MEWP, scaffolding, etc.)
  • This would be for faults that don’t require a cherry picker for access and systems not linked to other blocks.
  • Excludes multiple buildings/closes on one network
  • Excludes FIRS
  • Excludes SkyQ upgrades

Integrated reception systems

A communal Integrated Reception SysIRStem (IRS) is the easiest way for private landlords , commercial builders, local authorities or housing associations to provide end-users with any combination of Sky, Sky HD, SKY 3D, Freesat, Freeview and radio services.

IRS systems distribute the signal from one satellite dish to numerous tenants within a location. There is no need for individual satellite dishes or aerials, which reduces the unpleasant view of cluttered dishes on properties. The system can also be hidden entirely from public view on the roof of one central building.

IRS systems are easy to maintain, can future proof your property by keeping up to date with current digital demands and additional dishes for Poc Sat, Hotbird and Euro Sat can be added to satisfy the needs of various ethnicities.

As fully trained Registered Digital Installers and Sky Home Approved engineers with over 60 years industry experience, Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) can manage your full Integrated Reception System (IRS) installation requirements.

Our award winning team is dedicated to prioritising standards of excellence and tailoring the priorities of the residents according to each contract.

HOW WE CAN HELP:

  • All installations are in accordance with the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI) standards.
  • C&K systems are the most reliable and deliver the best picture and sound quality available.
  • Maintenance service contracts are available to meet your requirements.

With the entire signal distributed from the one satellite dish, there is no need for individual dishes or aerials.

Fibre optic solutions

Fibre
Fibre optic cable

A Fibre Integrated Reception System (FIRS) is a faster and more optimised Integrated Reception System (IRS) for private landlords, commercial builders, local authorities or housing associations to provide end-users with any combination of Sky, Sky HD, SKY 3D, Freesat, Freeview and radio services.

With FIRS, the satellite dish which distributes the signal to all users covers a larger geographical area, allowing a larger number of tenants access to the latest digital entertainment without the need for individual satellites and aerials. A single system can cover hundreds of homes in excess of 10km radius of the exchange.

As fully trained Registered Digital Installers and Sky Homes approved engineers with over 60 years industry experience, Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) can manage your full Fibre Integrated Reception System (FIRS) installation requirements.

Single cable solutions

A Single Cable Solution (SCS) system is the best, quickest and most cost-effective way to upgrade your existing integrated reception system to Sky+. SCR delivers the two signals required for Sky+ down an existing single cable system which allows private landlords, commercial builders, local authorities and housing associations to provide end-users with access to a plethora of HD, 3D, Digital Television and Digital Radio channels all from one satellite dish.

With an SCS upgrade, there is no need to reconfigure the head end, increase switch capacity or run new cables around the building to each end-user. This is ideal fo situations where external cabling is not allowed or internal cabling is inaccessible.

Unlike standard IRS installation, an complete SCS installation doesn’t involve any drilling, stripping, re-cabling or impact to the building. Not having to re-cable also means that access to individual properties isn’t required until the resident takes up Sky+.

As fully trained Registered Digital Installers and Sky Homes approved engineers with over 50 years industry experience, Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) can manage your SCS installation or upgrade.

Our award-winning team is dedicated to prioritising standards of excellence and tailoring the priorities of the residents according to each contract.

Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMATV)

Digital Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMATV) is a cost effective type of TV distribution system which would suit communal properties such as hotels, bars, office blocks, hospitals or prisons – anywhere that you would want to control the TV channel line up over multiple TVs.

Digital SMATV is designed to capture and decrypt (as necessary) a chosen selection of channels which are then combined onto a coaxial cable distribution system for viewing on a standard Freeview Digital TV receiver at the outlets of the system. There is no need for set top boxes, reducing a risk of theft and clutter.

You can customise and control programming according to audience needs and provide a broader range of programme facilities (Sky, CNN, Zee TV etc.) for multilingual end-users or specialist interest groups. Multiple services from multiple satellites can be received by the dish(es) and can be supplied to the end-user using a variety of different control methods dependent upon the client’s specific requirements and the cost limitations.

As fully trained Registered Digital Installers and Sky Homes approved engineers with over 50 years industry experience, Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) can manage your full installation requirements.

Shared dish

Ideally suited to private landlords, developers and block management companies (factors), Shared Dish Systems are an extremely cost-effective and hassle free way to provide residents with access to Sky, Sky+HD, Sky 3D and Freesat.

With Sky Shared Dish, cables are run to individual properties from one single satellite dish, so there is no need for individual satellite dishes. This is more aesthetically pleasing and ideal for situations whereby individual dishes are prohibited.

Installing a Sky Shared Dish could add value to your property, minimise the risk of damage to the property and prevent dish rash.

Additional connections can also easily be made at a later date if required.

HOW WE CAN HELP:

  • C&K can install a single dish that supplies up to 24 flats, or two dishes to supply up to 48 flats.

  • All systems carry a one year maintenance & warranty service with ongoing maintenance & warranty service contracts available to meet requirements.

With the entire signal distributed from the one satellite dish, there is no need for individual dishes or aerials.

4G/LTE interference

With the roll-out of 4G happening as we speak, it’s essential for landlords to be prepared to solve the problem of interference to residents’ television signals.

at800 (the organisation funded to provide corrective support for those affected by the deployment of 4G) has already advised that it will distribute filters to properties to overcome any interference caused. However, for those in communal buildings, they will only receive the filter if their building is registered.

Following receipt of the filter, an aerial installer, such as Campbell & Kennedy, will be required to install the filter to the launch amplifier on the system, as at800 will only cover the cost of providing a filter. The cost of this will be £150. If you are a resident – please contact your property manager or landlord for more information.

HOW WE CAN HELP:

  • Our engineers have all been fully trained and approved by at800 as 4G engineers.
  • Our customer service team have also been fully trained to deal with calls relating to 4G interference.
  • We can register your properties for you.
  • We can supply the filter.
  • You can choose to register your properties with at800 but remember you have to use an approved engineer (C&K are approved) to fit the filter.
  • You can choose when you would like works carried out (can pre-empt or wait for residents to request works).

VSAT installations

If you’re a homeowner or business owner, even just a little outside the boundaries of local cable and DSL providers, you may struggle to get internet access.

A satellite internet (VSAT) installation can resolve this issue by providing a high speed wireless internet solution for your home or office in areas where such a conventional method for providing broadband is either poor or unavailable.

Ideal for both business and home owners, VSAT satellite internet works by connecting your devices to the internet via a satellite dish.

Home users can benefit from faster speeds and the advantage of allowing people to be online at the same time with a consistent and reliable service across multiple devices.

Also business users can benefit from significant improvements in productivity, allowing you to work faster and more flexibly and efficiently.

All you need is a modem connected to your computer and a satellite dish and you will have full access to high speed internet, and by using a router the service can be shared with multiple computers.

HOW WE CAN HELP

  • Full project management from site survey to installation.
  • C&K have experience in installing a wide range of equipment.
  • All installations are in accordance with the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI)standards.
  • C&K systems are the most reliable and deliver the best picture and sound quality available.
  • C&K can call out on a reactive chargeable basis.
