Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) was appointed by Wates to deliver the electrical contracting works to 10 residential blocks on behalf of Rosehill Housing Co-operative, as part of a refurbishment project in Hurlet, Glasgow. This was a live site.
Rosehill Housing Co-operative were looking to refurbish their existing stock in an effort to modernise their properties and bring them up-to-date with current building regulations. Tenant satisfaction is key to Rosehill’s agenda and by embarking on this project, they sought to provide higher quality homes for their tenants.
The full scope of works included stripping out and rewiring, installation of smoke detectors, heat detectors, kitchen accessories and CO2 detectors, as well as distribution board upgrades. All works were carried out in accordance with the latest edition of the Institute of Electrical Engineers Wiring Regulations.
“ C&K has excelled in every department. Their operatives are very professional, have been accommodating at all times and are a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend my company or any company to engage with Campbell & Kennedy “
Kevin Callaghan, Site Manager – Wates Living Space
Prior to commencing the works, C&K carried out a full survey to identify any risks present that we must include in our method statements. We also have a working in occupied property policy that are engineers were given as a refresher toolbox talk prior to commencing the works as well as a refresher on our H&S policy.
C&K implemented a dedicated customer care team for the project and all electricians had clearly displayed colour photographic identification, with their full name and our company logo, address and contact details clearly printed, as well as branded PPE to help ensure the safety of the workers, but also identify them as legitimate workers.
We ensured that all exits were kept clear, waste was removed from the site, warning notices were in place and areas where works were being carried out cordoned off. We also ensured that isolation procedures were carried out correctly according to SELECT’s safe isolation procedures.
During the works, C&K carried out random site audits to ensure that our H&S policy was being adhered to but the HSE also carried out a random site audit for which we received a glowing report.
Campbell & Kennedy completed the job to specification, within budget and to the client’s approval. Following installation, C&K fully tested and commissioned the systems to ensure that they met H&S requirements. C&K then provided Rosehill Housing with O&M manuals and instructed tenants on how to operate the smoke detectors and new heating installations, ensuring that all electrical systems would be operated in a safe and efficient manner.
